1. Make sure information is getting to the young women and YW leaders.

2. Collect camp fees (Cost for girls: $150.00) work with Young Women's President.  The check should be made out to your ward and paid through the tithing slips as girls camp donations.  Make sure your ward clerks keep track and give you a list of young women who have paid. (You will need to talk to them; they don’t know to do this unless you ask them to)

NOTE: You will also need to collect additional funds to transport the girls to camp as a ward.  You will need to figure out gas money to be collected in addition to the $150 that will go to the stake.

3. Camp Directors need to know any non-members that want to attend camp.  The young women and parents need to meet with the Bishop before camp.  He will go over camp guidelines and standards to be followed.  The young woman needs to be attending either weekly activities or church.  (This isn't a babysitting service.)  It can be a great missionary experience if the young woman is ready for it. Young women must be 12 by Sept 30, 2013 to attend camp.

 4. Copy “Packets” to hand out to each girl in your ward, SEE ATTACHMENT. Medical forms, permission slips etc. will be handed out to each ward.  Please go through each girl’s packet.  Make sure that there are two different emergency contacts and different phone numbers.  Check for work phone numbers, cell phones, etc.  Check the medical information.  If you have any questions, please contact the parents for verification.  Make sure they understand that all medications need to be sent to camp in original containers with labels intact.

5. Attention ward camp director; Devotionals will need to be prepared with the help of the young women’s presidency and your ward youth leaders before you leave for camp. Devotionals will be a 10 minute spiritual presentation using all your girls and leaders at camp. You can sing a song tell a story, and bear testimony of truths. You will be given a quote about bravery to base your thoughts on. Be creative! SEE DEVOTIONAL ATTACHMENT FOR WARD QUOTES

6. Prepare Bishops to compete in the “Bishops Tournament of Warriors.” The competition will be on FRIDAY the 5th of July at camp. The wards will be in charge of dressing up your ward bishop in his Scriptural warrior apparel. We will be judging them and giving points as they compete for the coveted “Camp Mirror Ball trophy” They will be preparing a short talk on how their warrior applys to the youth these days

HINT: you might want to encourage bishops to practice up on their their archery skills, jump rope skills,  singing skills and musical chairs skills, to name a few!

7. Work with level leaders at camp, SEE ATTACHMENT.

FYI – These Hikers will need to bring a sturdy back pack with a change of clothes, hiking items etc. with sleeping bag attached for the hike.  All other items will need to be taken separate to be left at Base camp overnight.    They will do their hike, learn the safety skit, eat outdoors, sleep outdoors and bond together and prepare songs to lead at camp throughout the week etc. and then come into camp on Tuesday around noon ready to shine!.

Tuesday, July 2nd

All other campers will leave for camp with their wards.  Each ward is responsible for transporting these girls and leaders to camp and back home (Remember wards need to fund the gas).

NO need for everyone bring a sack lunch with them. You may need to stop for gas but we would like to have everyone arriving at camp around the same time to set up camp. The first meal will be the LUNCH meal at noon

We are encouraging all young women leaders to come to camp.  If you can only come for a day or two that is ok.     We will put you to work while at camp.  You will be able to spend quality time with the girls from not only your ward but from the stake.  I need to know when - time and day - you are coming to camp.

Note – The hardest rule for camp is that we cannot allow pregnant moms or kids at camp.  Just remember, there is always next year.

Testimony meeting will be held on Friday evening in Levels.  YW leaders are encouraged to attend the full week but especially the Friday night testimony meetings.  They may want to split up and go with the level with largest amount of girls from ward.

Thanks for all you are doing for the Young Women.

Sister Larsen
