Flag Ceremony: is
an important part of girls’ camp.
We want the girls
to feel respect as they raise and lower the flag.
We ask them to stand erect, heels together, hands at
their sides, and remain quiet through ceremony.
One girl announces Flag repeats * the bold words below
One girl is head of the color guard (of 6)and marches with the girls and gives underlined
commands
FLAG RAISING
Color Guard attention (color guard lines up facing
the audience)
* Would the audience please arise!
Right face
Forward march
Color guard halt
Right face (to face flag pole)
Post colors
(Flag is risen very fast-wait for pledge -hand over heart- and silence)
* Please join me in the pledge of
allegiance and 30 seconds of silence
Right face (color guard is facing flag so right
face turns them to face where they came from)
Forward march
Color guard halt
Right face (to face audience)
Color guard dismissed
*The audience may be seated
FLAG LOWERING
Color Guard attention (color guard lines up)
* Would the audience please arise for the
retiring of the Colors
(hand
over heart until the flag is completely down)

*Retire Colors (hand over heart until the flag is
completely down)
(flag is slowly brought down and folded (one
girl at each end folding and 2 on each side) the receiving girl holds flag
respectively over heart to be passes later to the YW president)

flag holder walks out of line gives the flag to YW pres then walks back to
place)
Color guard dismissed
